Tragedies Among the Statistics

On this website you will discover stories of valour, bravery and great deeds.  You will also discover stories of mistakes made, adventures foiled and forgotten men and women whose life was cut short in their prime. These will be the stories that you have never heard (mostly) from the files of the Canadian military experience.

In my Tragedies Among the Statistics series, you will discover the stories of Canada’s War Dead from the Second World War. They are not the stories of the men and women whose exploits made the history books, or the ones involved in the great events.  They are the stories of ordinary Canadians who signed up for duty and gave their lives, sometimes in the most ignoble of ways, but whose stories are long forgotten.

Regarding any dialog you may encounter: We can’t know everything that was said or done behind closed doors, particularly far back in history.  Stories are researched using original primary source material from inquests, investigations, court proceedings or reports written by the individuals involved.  Generally the stories are dramatic enough and need little help, but in the odd scenario I may add some dramatic effect to improve the readability of the story.  In this event, it is still based on solid biographical and historical research.
